Charles Calvin Kaywork, Acton, Maine, died on December 23, 2021, at the age of 94.\nBorn in Logansport, Indiana, Charles lived in Kearny, NJ before moving to Acton, Maine. He retired from American Cyanimid. (Cyro)\nCharles was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Hermitage 54.\nHe was married to his beloved wife, Helen Kelly, and was the father of James (Arlene), Martin (Mary Rose), Lisa (Dennis), and the late Kathleen Mumma. He was the brother of Ira (Emma), Paul (Christine), Mary Bender (John), Edward Lee (Mary Jane), Sharon Kaywork Sterople, and the late Jean Sansone, Donald, and Linda Kaywork. He was the brother-in-law of Rose and Joe Kelly. Charles was the grandfather of Lauren Mumma, Glenn Mumma, and Ryan Kaywork. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.\nIn addition to his work at Cyro he had spent twenty years with Waldheim Tires in Kearny, NJ. He had also worked at Forest Dairy and Dugan bakery. Charles was active in the Kearny veteran's community where he served as the Commander of VFW Post 1302.\nCharles was a volunteer at Goodall Memorial Hospital in Sanford, ME where he received the Volunteer of the year Award in 2015.\nThroughout his life his greatest joy was his family; whether it was his family outings to Lake Wallenpaupack , trips to the Jersey shore or large family gathering with his siblings and their families. His trips to southern Maine led to relocating there for his eventual retirement.\nHe was a softspoken man who was loved by all he came in contact with. He will be missed by friends and family.\nA memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine There will be no calling hours.
