Isabelle O. DeRoche, 82, of Sanford, died December 25 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford following a lengthy illness.She was born in Sanford on April 23, 1925, a daughter of Alphonse and Odile (Mercier) Therrien and attended the former Holy Family School.During the depression she worked as a seamstress for the WPA. For many years she was employed at the Universal Shoe Shop and then with the Brooks Woolen Mill.She was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.In her retirement, Mrs. DeRoche volunteered at the Old Timers Shop in Sanford. Her favorite place to be was at home where she tended to her flowers gardens and her art. She liked to draw in pastels and charcoals and to paint with watercolors. She was also quite accomplished at embroidery.She was predeceased by her husband Ernest W. DeRoche in 1993 and by 2 sisters, Marie Ange Therrien in 1947 and Giselle Vermette in 1983.Surviving her are 2 sons, Roger H. and Joanne DeRoche of Sanford, Robert P. and Virginia DeRoche of South Portland, 4 brothers, Bertrand and Doris Therrien of Manchester, NH Maurice and Jeanne D'Arc Therrien, Aldege Therrien, Robert Therrien and Diane, all of Sanford, 4 sisters, Cecile Letourneau, Lorraine and Emile Legere, Therse Deschenes, Carmelle Morin, all of Sanford, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
