Olive L. Shaw, 91, of Gorham, died on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Olive was born in North Berwick on October 15, 1920 to Harold and Lura (Allen) Chadbourne where she grew up and attended local schools. After graduating from high school she attended cosmetology school in Lewiston. After completing cosmetology school she briefly owned and operated Olive Louise's Beauty Shoppe in North Berwick. On February 14, 1943 she married Richard Shaw and together they raised four children.Olive enjoyed painting, stenciling, shelling, playing bridge and camping. She had taken many camping trips with her son Richard and his wife Cindy over the years. When she was a younger woman she liked to go skiing. Olive and her husband enjoyed the warm weather, spending many winters at their home on Sanibel Island in Florida. She was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and was rarely seen without a smile. She liked spending time with her family and was always looking for a way to be of help. Olive will be remembered as a very energetic woman with a deep love for her family and will be dearly missed.Olive was predeceased by her husband, Richard Shaw and by a son, Daniel Allen Shaw.Surviving are three children, Nancy Troubh and her husband William of Portland, Peggy Titherington and her husband Peter Hudson of East Waterboro and Richard Harold Shaw and his wife Cindy of Sanford; special friend, Ron LeBlanc of Falmouth, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 30th at the Riverside Cemetery located on Riverbank Court in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a memorial contribution to the American Diabetes Association, 80 Elm Street, Portland, Maine 04101.Arrangements are under the direction of Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
