Paul E. Tardiff, 69, of Sanford, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at theKennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kennebunk after years ofdeclining health.Mr. Tardiff was born in Sanford on September 4, 1938 to Lorenzo andLucille Porrell Tardiff. He attended local schools and graduated fromSt. Ignatius High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and wasstationed in Germany where he worked as a helicopter crew chief. Paulmet his wife, Irmgard Zirkelbach, in Kitzingen while serving in themilitary. After completing his enlistment, he returned to the U.S andbegan working in the transportation industry. He worked as a bus driveroperating both school and tour buses.Paul was a devoted family man and a very hard worker. He was an avidRed Sox fan and always made it a point to take his family down to FenwayPark every year to see a game. He enjoyed playing billiards and wouldoften play down at the American Legion where he was a member. Mr.Tardiff was very skilled with his hands and was very talented atbuilding and repairing things. He always took a lot of pride in thethings he did and was very particular in making sure they were donewell. He was also a generous man and very devoted to his family. Hisgrandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time withthem. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearlymissed by his family and friends. Mr. Tardiff was predeceased by a son, James Tardiff and a sister,Theresa Gilberti.Surviving are his wife, Irmgard Tardiff of Sanford; a son, John Tardiffand his wife Sharon of Framingham, MA; a daughter-in-law, Marci Tardiffand 5 grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Jeffrey, Nathan and Elliot.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Thursday,October 11th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Churchlocated on North Avenue in Sanford.
