Rachel T. Roy, 94, of Sanford passed away on Wednesday September 16, 2020 at the Lodges Care Center in Springvale.She was born on May 29, 1926 the daughter of Edmond and Rose (Gagne) Lehouillier.Rachel was born a farmer's daughter, just before the depression and lived through lean times on a small dairy farm in Biddeford, ME. She never went to high school but was extremely proud to receive her GED years after being widowed. She and Rudolph were amazing parents raising three active sons in Sanford, ME and worked in textiles mills and shoe shops their whole lives. Rachel was a very spiritual person. She devoted much of her time to church and the community. She was a Eucharistic Minister and gave communion in hospitals and nursing homes. She was very active, and enjoyed her walks, gardening, playing cards, tennis, sewing, and taking care of her pets. She hosted many holidays and the family always enjoyed her cooking. She was strong and independent and was an inspiration to all that met her. Rachel lived simply, she loved greatly, and she will be missed by her family and friends. She is preceded by her husband, Rudolph R. Roy who passed at a young age in 1974, her son Steven G. Roy, a brother Ben Lehoullier, and sisters Muriel Lehoullier and Jeanette Larose. She is survived by her sons Roger G. Roy and Ronald D. Roy, her grandchildren Normand R Roy, Sandy-Lynn Elder, Melody-Ann Roy Cote, Jennifer L. Roy, Emily A. Goguen, and Jonathan D. Roy, her great grandchildren, Abigail Roy and Andrew Roy, children of Normand, Jillian Cote, child of Melody-Ann, Nathan and Adeline Turner, children of Jennifer, and Cameron and Hannah Goguen, children of Emily, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 22 from 6 to 7PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1PM at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta.To leave a message of condolence click tab at left.
