Raymond H. Squire, 83 of Acton, ME died Sunday evening January 19, 2003 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.Mr. Squire was born on January 8, 1920 in Spencer, MA. He was the son of Edmund and Louise Squire. He is a 1938 graduate of Needham H. S. of Mass. and a 1942 graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont.Following his education Mr. Squire served in the Aleutian Islands with the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WWII. Upon his return to the States Mr. Squire sold "fine men's apparel" for many years.Mr. Squire was former president of the Wells, ME Chamber of commerce, a charter member of the Wells Rotary Club, and very active in civic affairs in both Wells, ME and Acton, ME. He was an active musician and antique connoisseur. In the summer months you might find him as a tour bus guide in Kennebunkport, or playing drums for the Milton Mills Music Masters. Mr. Squire was also an active member of the North Parish Congregational Church of Sanford where he served as a past trustee.Surviving is his wife Virginia Barrett Squire of Acton, ME; four stepchildren, Janice Fulmer of Sanford, Richard Davies of Hallowell, William Davies of York, and Thomas Davies of Hollis, NH. Also surviving are five step grandchildren, Sara, Laura and Steven Fulmer, and Jonathan and Elizabeth Davies.Family and Friends are invited to attend a period of visitation from 3 to 5 PM on Thursday January 23rd at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME.
